Contact Lenses
Enjoy clear, comfortable vision without relying on glasses every day. At Clare & Howard, we provide professional contact lens advice, fitting and aftercare to help you find the right lenses for your eyes, prescription and lifestyle.

Clear, comfortable vision for everyday life
Many people are suitable to try contact lenses, and with today’s wide range of lens types, materials and prescriptions, there are more options available than ever before.
Whether you want contact lenses for everyday wear, occasional use, sport, holidays, work or social occasions, our team can help you find a lens that feels comfortable, supports your vision and fits naturally into your routine.
Contact lenses can be life-changing for many patients, giving you freedom from glasses while still providing clear, reliable vision throughout the day.
Contact Lens Consultation
A contact lens consultation is designed to assess whether lenses are suitable for your eyes and to help identify the best option for your prescription and lifestyle.
Your optometrist will check your vision, review your eye health and discuss how often you would like to wear contact lenses. This helps us recommend a lens that offers the right balance of clarity, comfort and convenience.
On arrival
When you arrive for your appointment, we will confirm your details and ask about your current vision, any glasses you wear and what you would like contact lenses to help with.
If you already have a recent prescription or currently wear contact lenses, please bring your details with you. This helps us understand your current correction and whether any changes may be needed.
We will also ask about your lifestyle, work, hobbies and daily routine so we can recommend lenses that suit the way you live.

Lens Fitting
During your fitting, we will assess how the contact lenses sit on your eyes and how comfortable they feel. The fit is important because the lens needs to move correctly, provide clear vision and allow your eyes to remain healthy.
As part of the process, we may:
- Check your prescription and visual needs
- Assess the shape and surface of your eyes
- Recommend suitable lens types and materials
- Trial lenses to check comfort and vision
- Show you how to safely insert and remove your lenses
- Explain how to clean, store and care for your lenses
Modern contact lenses are designed to be comfortable and breathable, helping the front surface of the eye stay healthy while providing clear vision throughout wear.

Soft & Gas Permeable Lenses
Soft contact lenses are often the most popular choice because they are easy to adapt to and available in a wide range of prescriptions and wearing patterns. They can be a good option for everyday wear, occasional wear, sport and general lifestyle use.
Gas permeable lenses may also be recommended for certain prescriptions or eye shapes. These lenses can take a little longer to get used to, but they are individually fitted and can provide excellent vision, comfort and stability for the right patient.
At Clare & Howard, we can source lenses from a wide range of manufacturers, giving us the flexibility to find the most suitable option for your individual needs.

Aftercare & Ongoing Support
Once your lenses have been fitted, we will make sure you feel confident using them. Our team will guide you through handling, cleaning and lens care, as well as answering any questions you may have.
Regular contact lens aftercare is important to make sure your lenses continue to fit well, your vision remains clear and your eyes stay healthy. If your lifestyle, comfort or prescription changes, we can review your lenses and recommend a more suitable option where needed.

Supporting your vision beyond contact lenses
Contact lenses are just one part of your eyecare. Whether you wear lenses every day, occasionally, or alongside glasses, we can help you choose the best combination for your vision and lifestyle.
